Somdev Devvarman

In the second Grand Slam of 2009, the French Open, Somdev Devvarman was seeded 26th in singles qualifying. He defeated Joao Souza of Brazil 6–2, 2–6, 7–5 in the first round and ousted Brit Alex Bogdanovic 6–2, 6–7(3), 6–4 before losing to the # 3 seed and world # 96 Marcos Daniel 0–6, 1–6 and so went out of the tournament. (BCCL/Manoj Kesharwani)
In US Open 2009, Somdev Devvarman beat Janowicz to qualify for his first Grand Slam singles main draw. He beat Frederico Gil 6–3, 6–4, 6–3 in the first round; In the second round he lost to 24th seed Philipp Kohlschreiber of Germany 6-3, 6-4, 0-6, 6-2. (BCCL/Manoj Kesharwani)
