Southern spice girls

South Indian actresses have been a regular part of Bollywood and have charmed millions of fans for decades. While some struggled, for others it was a cakewalk. What's more, a whole lot of girls from South that created rage in Bollywood.

Kollywood siren Shriya Saran, sizzled opposite Rajini in Sivaji, made her Bollywood move and was seen as a TV journalist in Mission Istanbul. She even has two Hollywood projects including Ashok Amritraj's The Other side of Line and What's Cooking
The Ghajini girl, Asin falunts a unique sex appeal, blending western attitude and desi style in a potent mix. She is all set to give a tough time to other B'wood actresses. With her acting skills and innocence, she arrived and now she is all set to capture.
Often acclaimed as the most beautiful woman in the world, Aishwarya Rai made her movie debut with Tamil film, Iruvar and had her first commercial success in the Tamil movie Jeans and came to the attention of Bollywood with Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam.
Lakshmi Rai, has finally realised her dream of entering Bollywood by signing a film opposite singer-actor Himesh Reshammiya. The beauty plays the role of a Punjabi girl in the film Hey Gujju, directed by Satish Kaushik.
Like father like daughter: Kamal Haasan and Sarika's daughter Shruti Haasan who is already known for her signing talent is all set to make her Bollywood debut opposite Imraan Khan.
Following the footsteps of south heroines like Asin and Shriya, yet another south actress is all set to make it big in B'wood. Gorgeous Anushka would be stepping into the world of Bollywood with a movie which is going to be a remake of her Telugu blockbuster Arundhathi.
After winning enormous accolades for her spectacular performances in Malayalam and Tamil films, talented actress Padmapriya is now all set to debut in Bollywood with director Chandan Arora's upcoming period film Striker.
The undisputed darling of Hindi and Regional cinema, Sridevi started her film career as a child artist and went on to become the leading heroine in many films. This beauty queen ruled the silver screen for more than two decades. Films like Tohfa, Mr. India, Chandni are only some of the movies that brought her rave reviews and made her the darling of Bollywood fans.
Still known as Bollywood's 'Dream Girl', she could be the meek Seeta, the assertive Geeta or the chatterbox Basanti with effortless grace. Hema Malini was the second most successful actress from the south to foray into Hindi films.
Success was not a cakewalk for this dusky, enigmatic beauty from the south. Rekha's journey into the glam world was strewn with many obstacles and emotional traumas. It was a money crunch in the family that forced her to opt for films. At the age of 15, the once plump girl from Chennai was trying her luck in the Mumbai film industry but none paid attention to her. It was producer-director Mohan Sehgal who offered her a role in Saawan Bhadon and the rest as they say is history. A versatile actress, she was equally adept at comedy, drama and even executed dark characters with ease.
