Actors turned singers

There are stars in tinsel town who can not only act, but sing and dance like a dream. So, let's have a look at the stars who started their career in acting but now are better known for their singing abilities...

Britney Spears: We think it's safe to assume that all Disney stars who act can sing. Whether they'll all make it as big as Britney Spears is something only time will tell. But Disney is not Btriney Spears only claim to fame on the screen. She had the 2002 dud 'Crossroads'. However, that's behind her now after her hit special appearances on sitcoms ranging from 'The Simpsons' to 'How I Met Your Mother'. (Photo/AFP Relaxnews)
Christina Aguilera: The blonde has her roots in 'The New Mickey Mouse Club'. Disney offered her first break in singing with the song 'Reflection for Mulan' and from there, she hit the Billboard Hot 100 with numerous singles from her self-titled debut album. (Getty Images/Kevin Mazur)
Lindsay Lohan: She had a great debut into filmdom as a child star with 'Parent Trap'. In her teen years 'Freaky Friday', 'Mean Girls' and 'Herbie: Fully Loaded' helped her coast to fame. Ever since she's starred in duds and proved to be one of Disney's tragic products. And just like her great take-off in acting, her music career, too, had an excellent start with 'Speak' which went gold. Her second album, 'A Little More Personal' sank without a trace. (AGENCIES)
Hillary Duff: Popularly seen as Miley Cyrus' rival in terms of Disney star power and music, Hillary Duff has had a head start. Her debut album 'Metamorphosis' followed soon after her hit series 'Lizzie McGuire'. Heidi Montag: The media-hungry, silicon loving, 'Hills' star, performed a number at the Miss Universe pageant in the Bahamas. Heidi Montag's number in a nude, Britney Spears-inspired outfit can be seen in two ways, nightmare or laugh riot. (AGENCIES)
Kylie Minogue: She debuted as a child star in 'Neighbours' and her first big single was 'The Loco-motion'. Today she is Australia's biggest personal brand. Now this is awesome! (AGENCIES)
Jennifer Lopez: JLo has her roots in dancing. She was a backup dancer for Janet Jackson for a while. It wasn't until 1999 that she made it big with her music. And we do believe that she is a way better singer than an actress. (AGENCIES)
Gwyneth Paltrow: The blonde beauty kick-started her tryst with singing way before husband Chris Martin came along. Maybe she should cut records with her husband. Or maybe the reason she hasn't been doing that is because she's got a complex. (AFP/Adrian Dennis)
Miley Cyrus: Here's a star who we think could be the next Britney Spears and probably even better. Miley Cyrus, the 'Hannah Montanan' star, has a great voice and great moves, both on stage and for the media. She's got just the right amount of style and scandals to make her the next pop queen! (REUTERS/Phil McCarten)
Demi Lovato: The teen star could soon catch up to Miley. Demi Lovato's show 'Sonny With A Chance' is growing increasingly popular and her debut album 'Don't Forget' debuted at No.2. That's definitely a great start! (Getty Images/Jon Kopaloff)
