Celebs going green

Celebrities are known to have a strong fan following. When it comes to a healthy food choice, the big screen heartthrobs are setting an example by turning to a vegetarian diet and promoting the same. Check out some of the celebrities who are simply crazy about the colour green.....

Kareena Kapoor who was a hard-core- meat-eater turned vegetarian for her ex- boyfriend Shahid’s sake. The actress who loved biryani is now on a fruit, salad and juice diet. But yes, when she needs to binge, parathas are always welcome. She has also been declared the cutest vegetarian that fans would love to emulate. The on-line poll was conducted by PETA (People for Ethical Treatment of Animals) and Bebo won hands down.

Dhoom girl, Esha Deol had a role model in her mother as far as vegetarianism is concerned. When she joined the industry Esha had a sporty image and then she went for a complete make-over that included rigorous working out and with her healthy food choice she came back looking absolutely mind-blowing in Dhoom.
The 'Babuji' girl, Yana Gupta is one more addition to the veggie list. The Czech-born model urged people to go vegetarian with a sexy line, 'Try to relate to who is on your plate, Fish Are Friends, Not Food'. She endorses a vegetarian diet as it is good for the health, animals and environment and for the taste buds. For the former Ram Gopal Varma muse, Antara Mali, eating meat is a complete no no. She thrives on her daily dose of fruits, curds and vegetables. Once in a while she spoils herself with ice cream, kulfi and laddoos, otherwise its only daal-chaawal and potato sabzi that keeps her in shape.
The hottie on the block, Ayesha Takia has been a vegetarian for the last three years. The curvaceous lass who made her debut in Tarzan-The Wonder Car dotes on animals and has started abhorring non-vegetarian food. Now we know the secret of her deadly figure!

Madhavan who is a staunch vegetarian, has been involved with PETA activities, making a pro-vegetarian public service announcement, introducing PETA's Compassionate Citizen programme in Tamil and also launching the organisation's popular online e-card. Amitabh Bachchan is a vegetarian by choice and loves to gorge on simple food, like aloo puri, pakodas, dhoklas, parathas and gulab jamuns. According to him his reason for being a vegetarian is not religious but simply the fact that he likes vegetarian food.
Amrita who made her debut with her veggie co-star Shahid Kapoor in Ishq Vishq is also a veggie. She loves coconut-based gravies and Thai food when abroad, she has been a vegetarian for almost 10 years now.
This one came as a total surprise, but Jaggu Dada is nuts about vegetarian food. He loves green vegetables and that omni-present good old potato. As he doesn’t work out he keeps fit with a vegetarian diet managing to look young and sexy even today.
Bollywood hunk John Abraham is a staunch vegetarian. He had even campaigned for the cause wearing nothing but spring onions and a garland of peas. John gave up meat after seeing new chicken farms outside Mumbai. Being a fitness freak, he values the muscle-building and fitness advantages of a vegetarian diet.
Shahid Kapoor who burst onto the big league with his debut film Ishq Vishq is another pure vegetarian. Shahid turned vegetarian a few years ago after reading an article in a book on how unhealthy it is to eat meat. The hunk doesn’t mind a monotonous routine of paneer and dal for his high-protein diet when he is doing his heavy duty body-building exercises.
