Reality shows with foreign concept

Indian reality shows have become a new-age entertainment recipe to all and sundry. Though some are original, most of them are total rip-offs from foreign formats. They lag behind in originality but still manage to keep the viewers glued. Let's take a look at some Indian shows with foreign concepts.

Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin Vs Ugly Betty : The magic of the serial 'Jassi Jaissi...' spread on to the Indian audience only after the comedy drama 'Ugly Betty' was aired. Both the shows were identical, down to the good-looking boss. The story of a bespectacled, less than ordinary looking girl Jassi as sweet on the screen.
Iss Jungle Se Mujhe Bachao Vs I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! :

'Iss Jungle Se Mujhe Bachchao' which is casting it's spell on everybody with it's high-voltage drama is alike in it's basic format to a British reality show 'I Am a Celebrity--Get Me Out Of Here'. The show is the first of it's kind on Indian television where the celebs will face ultimate challenges to survive.
Sach Ka Saamna Vs The Moment of Truth : What's wrong in borrowing the concept if the viewers are enjoying it? The currently aired reality show based on unwrapping the truth is a format similar to the 'The Moment Of Truth', the American game show. The fascinating show 'Sach Ka...' has become the must watch with the handsome host, Rajeev Khandelwal.
Bhaskar Bharti Vs Lalola :

This one's another straight copy. 'Borrowed' from the West's 'Lalola', it's actually a complete adaptation. But 'Bhaskar Bharti' has received rave reviews from the audience. The show has come up with a concept of a man turning into a woman due to a divine intervention to realize what woman has to face.
Kaun Banega Crorepati Vs Who Wants to Be a Millionaire : The plot of the television quiz show 'Kaun Banega Crorepati' is based on UK's 'Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?' But the replica of the famous English series became quite famous with Amitabh Bachchan's famous catchy line 'Lock Kiya Jaye?'.
Kamzor Kadi Kaun Vs The Weakest Link : Like the rest, this one too imitated the concept of a reality shows that ruled the global audience, but 'Kamzor Kadi Kaun', the Indian version of a successful American game show, 'The Weakest Link?' didn't get much attention, maybe because of the rude hostess Neena Gupta. The host herself became the weakest link for the show!
India’s Got Talent Vs America’s Got Talent : 'India's Got Talent' has been taken in the same spirit by Indians as the Americans took to 'America's Got Talent'. The shows are bound to take off well with celebrity tag attached to them. You just can't wait to see the incredible talent by the kids, women and men the on podium.
Indian Idol Vs American Idol : 'American Idol' became 'Indian Idol' for Indian viewers. The Indian version of the American reality show took the country by storm right from it's first season. It gets very interesting and nail-biting scenario to wait for the judges to show the contestants green light.
Jhalak Dikhlaja Vs Dancing With The Stars : The highly-successful US show 'Dancing With The Stars' is an inspiration for India's 'Jhalak Dikhlaja'. The show held the audience all over the country in thrall. 'Jhalak...' is one of the Indian reality shows to really enthrall the audiences with the stunning performances of the participants.

Kya Aap Panchi Kaksha Se Tez Hain? Vs Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? : Star Plus's game show 'Kya Aap Panchi Kaksha Se Tez Hain?' hosted by Shah Rukh Khan is an inspiration from 'Are You Smarter Than a 5th grader?' Unfortunately the Indian version did not generate much attention. Though the concept is old it's new for Indians to watch Shahrukh Khan being witty and charming on the small-screen.
