Remembering Princess Diana

From the time Diana, Princess of Wales, became engaged to Prince Charles in 1981 until her death in a car accident in 1997, Diana was arguably the most famous woman in the world. On July 1 the world celeberates her birthday. (AFP/John Stillwell)
Active in many charities and causes, Princess Diana campaigned against the use of landmines and called attention to the plight of AIDS victims at a time when the disease was largely misunderstood. (AFP)
