Hot Debutants 2008

Year 2008 witnessed some of the best and not so best newcomers. Star kids, models, TV actors, strugglers, everyone trying their best to hit the jackpot. A look at some of them

Sonal Chauhan: The sexy gal dazzled in Jannat opposite Emran Hashmi. After the film the lucky lass is on cloud nine with all the appreciation and work coming her way.
Mughda Godse: She managed to get noticed despite the two other experienced actresses in Fashion. She was able to grab attention with her outstanding acting skills.
Imraan Khan: Star kids are fun, but star nephews are even better! Aamir Khan's 'bhanja' won the population with his disarming, easygoing screen presence and level headed spontaneity with Jaane Tu..Ya Jaane Na.
Rajeev Khandelwal: After trying his luck in TV serials like Kahiin To Hoga and Left Right Left Rajeev carried an entire film with his great acting skills and commendable confidence. (Photo/Shashank Sane) (BCCL)
Prachi Desai: Everyone had their doubts about TV's favourite bahu opting to make a splash in B'wood with Rock On, but everyone was put to rest after the film's smashing performance. Farhan Akhtar: The pleasant surprise of the year, Javed Akhtar's son connected with the people of all ages, groups and mindsets. No one quite knew what to expect from the filmmaker turned actor. But, the final result was Rock On in which Farhan delivered a rocking performance on all counts.
Anushka Sharma: A model turned actress, the pretty lass will soon be seen in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi opposite SRK.
Amita Pathak: The actress made her B'wood debut with the film Haal-e-dil alongside newcomers Nakuul and Adhyayan. Although the film was not a hit but her acting skills got noticed.
Anurag Sinha: Anurag Sinha enrolled himself at Pune's Film and Television Institute of India only to join the elite club of Subhash Ghai discoveries with his debut, Black And White. In the movie he showcased his reserved intensity and brooding screen presence. The young actor's work was widely appreciated even if the film failed to click.
Asin: Asin is all set to make her B'wood debut with Ghajini. For the actress everyone's keeping their fingers crossed and hope she gives her best shot. (Photo/SL Shanth Kumar) (BCCL)
Harman Baweja: He was expected to be the next best thing in B'wood. But to everyone’s disappointment he could not prove his acting potential in the movie Love Story 2050. (Photo/Manoj Kesharwani) (BCCL)
Darsheel Safary: A star kid in true sense, proved that even good things come in small packages. His role in the movie Taare Zameen Par was appreciated not only by the audiences but by the critics as well. (Photo/Manoj Kesharwani) (BCCL)
Aditi Sharma: Just another girl next door, Aditi managed to earn this name for herself with the movie Black & White.
Nakuul Mehta: He was also part of the movie Haal-e-Dil but went unnoticed as the film.
Adhyayan Suman: More than his film, Haal-e-dil, he was in the news for his relationship with Kangana Ranaut. Hope he concentrates on his acting skills rather than his love life.
Sada: The beautiful lass made her entry into B'wood with her Khallballi alongside Nikhil Dwivedi. As the film, Sada also proved to be another disappointment to the viewers. (BCCL Photo/Viral Bhayani)
Mimoh Chakraborty: Mithun Chakraborty's son made his debut in Jimmy which promised to showcase Mimoh's dancing skills, a mix of Mithun Da's style and Michael Jackson. But as the film, Mimoh proved to be a flop.
Sikander Kher: Anupam and Kirron Kher's son made his debut with a thriller Woodstock Villa. After the movie he got mixed response from the audiences for his performance, though the film was a flop at the box office. (Photo/Manoj Kesharwani) (BCCL)
