Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia

Hariprasad Chaurasia was born in Allahabad on July 01, 1938. His father was a wrestler and mother died when he was four.

Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia is a Indian classical instrumentalist and plays 'Bansuri'.  (BCCL)
Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia started learning vocals of music from his neighbour, Pandit Rajaram at the age of 15. Later started learing to play flute from Panditt Bholanath.  (BCCL)
He is considered as a rare combination of innovator and traditionalist. He has expanded the expressive possibilities of the bansuri through his masterful blowing technique

Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia is married to Anuradha, who herself is an well known classical vocalist.

He is curretly the Artistic Director of the 'World Music Department' of Rotterdam Music Conservatory in Netherlands.
