Celebs & their vanity vans

Made to order vanity vans are fast becoming symbolic of a star's pecking order in Bollywood. Moderation in hard times is definitely not the mantra in B-town, at least when it comes to customised vanity vans. Here's a look at some of the best vanity vans...

Shah Rukh Khan is on the lookout for something grand that goes with his self proclaimed satus of 'Badshah of Bollywood'. So he has got himself new personalized vanity van specially designed to his taste by Dilip Chhabaria. The van is whopping 14 metres long which is bigger than anyone in Bollywood. It's not just technologically well equipped with computers but is aesthetically futuristic in design. SRK knew exactly what he wanted. Apart from the usual drawing room and resting rooms, this van has a room which no star in B-Town has, a workout room complete with all kind of

latest gym equipments. The van has many unique tricks like when it's stationary it becomes wider to increase floor space and some of the rooms expand. The van took three months to design. (Pic: Dilip Chhabria)
Sanjay Dutt replaced his four-year old DC vanity van with another one from Dilip Chhabria Designs at a whopping Rs 3 crore. Its interiors resembling that of Air Force One, this twelve meter-long van boasts of a lounge area, hydraulic bar and chairs, two TV screens measuring 42 & 52 inches, a detachable cum foldable computer with internet connectivity, two gaming and one entertainment console in the form of Playstation, X-Box and Wii. But what truly sets Sanjay Dutt's van apart from other celebrity vans are its electronically-articulated functions that can be monitored through two palm-sized touch-screen applications. Complex lighting effects that help create five default moods and many more combinations are achieved through a mix of halogen and fluorescent lights. (Pic: Dilip Chhabria)
In the quest for ultra-luxurious and futuristic vanity van, Hrithik Roshan is not much far behind. His brand new vanity van, this one equally futuristic and spacious in terms of its design, the van is done up extensively in wood and glass. (Pic: Dilip Chhabria)
Hrithik Roshan's vanity van has a sporty look to it and adheres to the classic black-and-white colour scheme. As a first of its kind, it has four elaborately-carved divisions- office, bedroom, make-up room and a bathroom. (Pic: Dilip Chhabria)
Ritesh Deshmukh's vanity van is quite basic and simple. It's got a basic white and grey look to it and in terms of aesthetics, it has a red couch in it. (Pic: Dilip Chhabria)
Joining the league of futuristic vanity van owners, a trend intiated by Riteish Deshmukh five years back with a van resembling a jet, his van is considered the best in Bollywood. He is an architect himself and is fond of cars. (Pic: Dilip Chhabria)
However, when it comes to having the most posh bathroom in the back of your van, it is Vivek Oberoi who is leading the pack. Spending a handsome sum of Rs 1.5 crore on his vanity van, the actor has also managed to fit in a Jacuzzi! (Pic: Dilip Chhabria)
Vivek Oberoi's vanity van is too is a DC product and its delivery came on the heels of recession in late 2008. Boasting of red-and-steel gray interiors, the other highlight of Vivek’s heaven on wheels is a pilot-like chair right in front of the LCD, blurring the lines between a serious gaming zone and simulation of a space-jet. Thankfully, what helps clear the confusion is the presence of a refreshment and not oxygen bar along with a microwave-equipped pantry. (Pic: Dilip Chhabria)
