Weddings in Gandhi family

Here are some of the wedding snaps of India's leading political family, the Gandhi's: Indira fell in love with Feroze Gandhi when she was studying at Oxford and he was a student of the London School of Economics. Indira liked Feroze's openness, sense of humour and self- confidence. Indira and Feroze finally decided to get married at a Vedic ceremony at the Nehrus' ancestral home at Anand Bhawan, Allahabad on March 26, 1942.

The charismatic Priyanka got together with Robert way back in 1991, after she met him at a party organised by common friends. They got married after six years of courtship on February 18, 1997 at Sonia Gandi's residence at 10, Janpath, Delhi. The wedding was a private affair, in line with Priyanka's reclusive nature when it comes to her personal life. Only 150- odd names were there on the guest list.

Cupid struck Sonia Maino and Rajiv Gandhi in the 1960s, when they both were students in Cambridge. Sonia and Rajiv got married on February 25, 1968 in a simple ceremony at Indira's official residence at 1, Safdarjung Road.

Maneka and Sanjay Gandhi first met in 1973 at a cocktail party organised by her uncle. Friends attest that it was "love at first sight". A relationship blossomed and a year later, they got married on September 23, 1974 at 1, Safdarjung Road, Delhi.
