Shoaib Malik finally married tennis star Sania Mirza today in her hometown of Hyderabad. The wedding took place at 1 pm at the Taj Krishna and was a private function with close family members as invitees. (PTI)

The much-awaited wedding of tennis star Sania Mirza and Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik was performed at a five-star hotel around 1:00 p.m. as per Muslim religious customs. The nikah was performed in the presence of a select gathering comprising only the family members of the groom and the bride.  (BCCL)

Sania was spotted getting into the car wearing a red saree that her mother had worn 25 years ago for her own nikaah. Shoaib Malik wore a black sherwani which was made by Shantanu and Nikhil.

The celebrity wedding between tennis star Sania Mirza and Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik took place on April 12 as the two families advanced the much hyped marriage by three days. Originally, the marriage was to take place on April 15 although stories on the re-scheduling of the marriage kept coming in the media.

Earlier in the day, Sania's spokesperson Rucha Nayak said that 'Sania will be wearing a red saree that her mother had worn 25 years ago for her own nikah. Shoaib will be wearing a black sherwani which was made by Shantanu and Nikhil'.

The mood of tension and anxiety prevailing at Sania's house at Jubilee Hills for the past few days turned into that of celebrations as the arrival of relatives and friends began on April 11, 2010.
