Sonal Mansingh

Sonal Mansingh is an eminent Indian classical dancer and choreographer for Odissi dance.

Sonal Mansingh was born in Mumbai on May 01, 1944.  (BCCL)
She started learning Manipuri dance at the age of four along with her elder sister from a teacher in Nagpur. At seven she started learning Bharatnatyam.  (BCCL)
Sonal Mansingh's dancing career started in 1962 after her 'Arangetram' in Mumbai. She founded 'Centre for Indian Classical Dances' in New Delhi in 1977.

Over the years, dance has taken Sonal all over the world. She won the prestigious 'Padma Bhushan Award' in 1992. (BCCL)

During her bussy schedule, Sonal finds out time for social work. She is also associated with lot of charities.  (BCCL)
